Biography

David M. Weinberg is founding vice president and a fellow at the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security [1] (JISS), a security think tank; and Israel office director of Canada’s Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs [2].

He is also a diplomatic, defense, and political columnist for
The Jerusalem Post [3] and Israel Hayom [4] newspapers.

Since moving to Israel in 1990, he has served in a number of public positions.

He was founding coordinator of the Global Forum against Anti-Semitism in the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, and senior advisor to then-Deputy Prime Minister Natan Sharansky.

For many years, he was Spokesman of the
Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies [7], of the Herzliya Conference on Israel’s National Security, [8] and of Bar-Ilan University [9].

He was senior adviser of
The Tikvah Fund [10] in Israel; a public affairs and development consultant to Israel’s national hospital, the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer [11]; and served as assistant director of the Anti-Defamation League [12]Israel Office.

His communications consultancy, 
Beyad Halashon Communications & Advocacy Ltd. [13], specializes in branding, public relations, lobbying, and editing.

A precise and passionate speaker, his synagogue sermons and university lectures combine learned Jewish perspectives with strategic and political insight, always with an inspirational thrust. Listeners come away informed and spiritually uplifted.

He has spoken in Israel, Canada, the U.S., and Europe at many shuls, federations, advocacy forums, and universities. He has appeared as an expert on CBC, CNN, Israel TV and Radio, and been quoted in 
The New York Times and other international publications.

Mr. Weinberg studied at Yeshivat Hakotel under Rabbi Yeshayahu Hadari zt”l, and at Yeshivat Har Etzion under Rabbi Dr. Aharon Lichtenstein zt”l. He holds a Master’s degree in international relations from Bar-Ilan University, and a Bachelor’s degree in international relations and history from the University of Toronto. He is married with six adult children and several grandchildren, and lives in Nof Ayalon in central Israel.
